Procurement Manager – FMCG (Pretoria)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to lead the sourcing and supply of dry goods, frozen products, fresh produce and catering equipment for a fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG) business. The role is based in Pretoria and requires close collaboration with sales, operations and supplier partners to ensure product availability and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end procurement processes for all product categories.
• Source and negotiate competitive pricing for dry, frozen, fresh and catering items.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels while balancing working‑capital requirements.
• Build and sustain strong supplier relationships and monitor performance.
• Work with sales and operations to forecast demand and prevent stockouts.
• Identify new products and suppliers that add value.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, national procurement guidelines and food‑safety standards.
• Analyse purchasing trends to uncover cost‑saving opportunities.
• Oversee stock takes, investigate variances and report key performance indicators.
• Lead, coach and develop the procurement team.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement within FMCG or food distribution.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with sales, operations and logistics.
• Experience managing cold‑chain logistics and inventory control.
• Excellent analytical and project‑management capabilities.
