PRN Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) – Variable Shifts

About the role

The PRN Inpatient Registered Nurse provides patient‑centered care on a post‑surgical and medical‑surgical unit. Working 2 FTE (8 hours per week) on a flexible schedule, the RN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to promote recovery, ensure safety, and support discharge planning.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient health status, develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and operate relevant medical equipment.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, post‑operative care, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain infection‑control and safety standards, and document all care accurately.
• Respond to emergencies, report incidents, and participate in on‑call rotations.
• Perform point‑of‑care testing and ensure compliance with quality‑control protocols.
• Conduct thorough hand‑offs and collaborate on discharge planning.

Required profile

• Current RN registration and experience in inpatient, post‑surgical or med‑surg settings.
• Ability to work variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to patient advocacy.
