Principal Sales Consultant - Lighting

About the role

Rubicon’s Sustainable Technology Division is expanding rapidly and needs a Principal Sales Consultant to own the lighting portfolio in the Western Cape. The role offers full autonomy to build your own pipeline, manage client relationships and be rewarded directly for the results you deliver.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the lighting sales strategy across commercial, industrial and residential markets, including new builds, retrofits and large‑scale projects.
• Develop a self‑generated pipeline of architects, engineers, consultants, property managers and contractors.
• Manage full‑cycle deals from site assessments and technical guidance through proposals, ROI‑driven financial models, tender responses and contract closure.
• Maintain and grow key account relationships beyond the initial sale.
• Meet and own monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of proven external sales success in lighting or a closely related technical B2B environment.
• Consistent track record of managing complex sales cycles and achieving targets.
• In‑depth knowledge of commercial and industrial lighting systems, energy‑efficiency standards and project bid processes.
• Ability to discuss technical details with engineers and present ROI calculations to CFOs.
• Own vehicle, valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to treat the territory as a business to build.
