Power BI Developer (Financial Services)

About the role

Talent Sauce is looking for a skilled Power BI Developer to join its analytics team in Cape Town. The role is hybrid, with 2‑3 days onsite per week, and runs until 31 December 2026 with a strong chance of renewal based on performance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy interactive Power BI dashboards and paginated reports for Finance, Risk and Operations.
• Implement Row‑Level Security to meet POPIA/GDPR compliance.
• Build and maintain Star and Snowflake schema data models using Power Query and DAX.
• Write complex SQL queries for ETL/ELT from Azure Synapse, Snowflake or SQL Server.
• Optimize dataset performance and reduce refresh times.
• Maintain version control (Git/GitHub) and produce technical documentation.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists and business analysts; conduct UAT and train end‑users.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience developing Power BI solutions (Desktop, Service, Report Builder).
• Proven ability to create scalable data models with advanced DAX calculations.
• Strong SQL skills (T‑SQL or PL/SQL) for data extraction and troubleshooting.
• Experience working within strict financial governance and security frameworks.
