Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant – Montana

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for its Montana store in Pretoria. The role involves providing pharmaceutical care, addressing patients' medicine‑related needs, and ensuring safe, accurate dispensing of medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1‑5 medicines and scheduled substances.
• Compound, manipulate, and prepare non‑sterile medicines according to approved formulas and SOPs.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for scheduled substances.
• Order medicines up to Schedule 6 under authorised instruction.
• Interpret prescriptions, label, pack, and verify medication accuracy.
• Provide patients with correct usage instructions and explain medical aid costs.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of drug interactions, dosages, and medical aid procedures.
• Support the dispensary manager with script tracking and patient follow‑up.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Advantageous: knowledge of retail/FMCG operations, experience with Unisolv Oncology, additional language proficiency, and familiarity with drug and family‑planning or complementary medicine.
