Physical Trading and Research Analyst

About the role

neXgro is looking for a full‑time Physical Trading and Research Analyst to support its grain and oilseed trading business in South Africa. The role offers hands‑on exposure to physical commodity trading, market research, futures and hedging, and risk management within a dynamic agricultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior trader in buying, selling and executing physical trades.
• Develop relationships with potential buyers in the grains and oilseeds market.
• Monitor grain and oilseed market prices and propose trading opportunities.
• Track contracts, volumes, pricing and deliveries.
• Analyse supply, demand, weather and other market drivers.
• Provide market analysis and research reports.
• Monitor relevant futures markets and assist with hedging physical positions.
• Understand futures, basis and price risk, and support trading decisions.
• Identify discrepancies or risks and raise them promptly.
• Monitor positions, exposure and trading results.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) is essential; a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Finance or a related field is advantageous.
• 0–2 years of experience in grain or commodity markets.
• Computer literate with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong numerical aptitude, commercial mindset and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication skills in both Afrikaans and English.
