Pharmacist - Night Duty

About the role

The Mediclinic Nelspruit hospital is seeking a qualified pharmacist to provide night‑time pharmaceutical services. The role involves delivering safe, cost‑effective medication care to in‑hospital patients and the public while complying with all relevant legislation and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for stores and the public.
• Accurately dispense prescribed medications.
• Maintain efficient stock holding of medicines and scheduled substances.
• Deliver a safe and efficient medication service throughout the night shift.
• Provide outpatient pharmacy services as required.

Required profile

• Essential education: B Pharm, B Sc Pharm or Dip Pharm.
• Desired experience: 1–3 years in a hospital pharmacy, including stock management and distribution.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pharmacy legislation (Pharmacy Act, Good Pharmacy Practices, Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965).
• Familiarity with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLV, AS400 and SAP.
• Understanding of pharmacology, clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship.
• Financial management and ethical stock control practices.
