Pharmacist

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to deliver a comprehensive, professional, and cost‑effective pharmaceutical service to in‑hospital patients and the public. The role focuses on ensuring medication availability, accurate dispensing, and efficient stock management within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for stores and the public.
• Guarantee accurate dispensing of prescribed medications.
• Maintain efficient stock holding and control of medicines and scheduled substances.

Required profile

• Essential education: B Pharm, B Sc Pharm or Dip Pharm.
• Essential experience: none required.
• Desired experience: 1‑3 years in a hospital pharmacy, focusing on stock management and distribution.

Required skills

• Financial management.
• Knowledge of ethical and surgical product handling.
• Familiarity with relevant pharmacy legislation (Pharmacy Act, Good Pharmacy Practice, Medicine Control Act 101 of 1965).
• Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship awareness.
• Understanding of medical aid benefits regulations and formularies.
• Experience with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLV and AS400.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ethical stock control practices and principles.
