Pharmacist Assistant (PBQ) – Adelphi Centre, Sea Point

About the role

Dis-Chem is seeking a Post‑Basic Qualify (PBQ) Pharmacist Assistant to join the Adelphi Centre store in Sea Point. You will support the delivery of pharmaceutical care, ensuring patients receive accurate medication and guidance while complying with regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the sale and dispensing of Schedule 1‑5 medicines and scheduled substances.
• Compound, manipulate, and prepare non‑sterile medicines according to approved formulas and SOPs.
• Re‑package medicines and manage stock control for scheduled substances.
• Process prescription orders, verify patient details, and ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and documentation.
• Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use and follow up on script tracking.
• Stay updated on medical aid procedures, drug interactions, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with the pharmacist to ensure all dispensed medicines are checked and signed.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• Basic Pharmacist Assistance qualification.
• Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
• Working experience on Unisolv.
• Strong command of English and a second language.
• Willingness to work retail hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Unisolv pharmacy software.
• Computer literacy – MS Office suite.
• Numerical aptitude for dosage calculations.
• Knowledge of SAP and E‑Scripting (advantageous).
• Familiarity with retail/FMCG operations (advantageous).
