Patisserie Lecturer – Teach & Inspire Future Chefs

About the role

The International Hotel School Benoni Campus is seeking a passionate Patisserie Lecturer to deliver theory and practical pastry training to aspiring culinary professionals. You will play a pivotal role in shaping students' skills, confidence and future careers in the hospitality industry.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct engaging theory lectures and hands‑on kitchen pastry sessions.
• Achieve a minimum 85% pass rate and 90% throughput for the cohort.
• Track student progress, provide counselling and support throughout their studies.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement.
• Apply assessment principles in line with the assessor code of conduct.
• Organise industry research, open‑day sweet snack events, competitions and pastry‑based excursions.

Required profile

• Minimum NQF 5 qualification in hospitality.
• City & Guilds Diploma in Food Preparation, Cooking & Patisserie.
• CATHSSETA Unit 73292 compliance.
• Assessors and Moderators certificate and certification for outcome‑based assessment.
• At least 5 years of professional pastry experience.
• Minimum 2 years of lecturing, teaching or assessor experience.
• Previous managerial experience in a culinary setting.
