Outage Manager

About the role

Gevernova is looking for an Outage Manager in Johannesburg. The role covers the scheduling, execution and reporting of outages, as well as the warranty execution of outage works. It involves developing technical knowledge of a discipline and executing policy and strategy, with some autonomy within standard functional practices and procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Develop outage event schedules and manage outage execution
• Handle post-outage reporting and outage warranty execution
• Build in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and use it to carry out policy and strategy
• Understand key business drivers and how your team's work fits with others
• Solve straightforward tasks using prior experience and on-the-job training, and use judgment to propose alternative solutions with guidance
• Provide informal guidance to new team members

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering or Project Management from an accredited university or institution
• Minimum 4 years of experience in power station services
• Good technical knowledge of power plants, steam turbines and generators
• Ability to work effectively across functions, with financial acumen and knowledge of pricing and cost management
• Excellent written and oral communication, customer-focused, able to influence and drive execution of outage works on site
• Willingness and ability to travel
• Proven ability to analyse and resolve problems, and to document, plan and execute programmes
