About the role

We are seeking a passionate, patient‑focused Optometrist to join our established franchise practice in Somerset West. The role involves delivering comprehensive eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, and providing personalised patient care within a supportive retail‑clinical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and driver screenings.
• Assess ocular health and identify refractive and binocular vision abnormalities.
• Prescribe corrective lenses, therapies and medication where appropriate.
• Advise patients on lens options, coatings and suitable eyewear solutions.
• Perform contact lens fittings and provide ongoing after‑care.
• Maintain accurate patient records while ensuring strict confidentiality.
• Collaborate with front‑line and dispensing teams to create a seamless patient journey.

Required profile

• Holds a Bachelor of Optometry degree.
• Registered with the HPCSA.
• Strong clinical and diagnostic abilities.
• Professional, empathetic communicator fluent in Afrikaans.
• Works confidently under pressure and enjoys teamwork.
• Good computer literacy and sound administrative skills.
• Patient‑first approach with strong attention to detail.
