Operations & Tech Graduate Analyst – Settlement & Data Innovation

About the role

The Operations & Tech Graduate Analyst role blends traditional settlement responsibilities with a strong focus on technology, data analytics, automation and artificial intelligence. You will gain exposure to the full trade lifecycle while helping the business identify smarter ways of working through data‑driven insights and digital innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with settlement of equities, bonds and derivatives in line with JSE rules and internal procedures, monitor activity and resolve exceptions.
• Perform daily cash and securities reconciliations, liaise with custodians, banks and internal stakeholders, and maintain accurate settlement records.
• Use data analytics to spot trends and opportunities, build dashboards and reports with Power BI, Excel, Power Query and related tools.
• Support operational and trading systems, conduct system checks, troubleshoot issues and assist with testing new functionality.
• Complete compliance, AML/CFT and regulatory training, support audit requests and ensure records meet regulatory requirements.
• Participate in improvement projects, system implementations and user acceptance testing, contributing ideas for process efficiency.

Required profile

• Completed bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related field.
• 0‑2 years’ experience or internship exposure in financial services, asset management, stockbroking or fintech.
• Demonstrated interest in financial markets with a strong academic record.
• Progress toward industry qualifications such as JSE, RPE or CFA exams.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (data manipulation and analysis).
• Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python.
• Power Automate, VBA, Copilot, ChatGPT or similar AI tools.
