Operations Planner – Linehaul & Horse/Trailer

About the role

The Johannesburg branch in Kempton Park is looking for an experienced Operations Planner to manage linehaul and horse‑and‑trailer activities. You will coordinate drivers, supervise shift handovers and ensure efficient use of the fleet while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and motivate the Horse & Trailer team to achieve productivity targets.
• Provide training for Code 14 staff and arrange regular meetings with operations and drivers.
• Supervise daily driver activities related to trailer drops, collections and POD returns.
• Ensure accurate linehaul handovers between day and night shifts.
• Monitor and control linehaul expenses, bookings and vehicle allocations.
• Compile and submit daily, weekly and monthly operational reports on time.
• Assist customer service with queries to maintain overall customer satisfaction.
• Maintain uniform compliance and professional conduct across the team.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate.
• 3‑5 years of operational distribution management experience.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills.
• Reliable and punctual with own transport.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, etc.).
