Operations Manager – FMCG (Western Cape)

About the role

Our client, a global FMCG leader, is expanding its South African footprint and seeks an experienced Operations Manager to drive efficiency, quality and growth across its Cape Town facility.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee production schedules, equipment performance and maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Manage procurement, supplier contracts and inventory control for raw materials and packaging.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics, optimise transport routes and control costs.
• Partner with QA to ensure HACCP, GMP and food‑safety standards, conducting audits and corrective actions.
• Lead, coach and develop cross‑functional teams, handling workforce planning, training and performance management.
• Prepare and monitor operational budgets, track financial performance and drive cost‑efficiency measures.
• Identify bottlenecks, introduce automation and digital tools, and report KPIs to senior management.
• Ensure health‑and‑safety compliance, conduct risk assessments and promote a zero‑incident culture.
