Operations Manager – Cross‑Border Logistics (Africa)

About the role

Our client, a leading South African logistics and freight group, is launching a new transport‑broking division that will handle cross‑border freight across Africa (excluding South Africa). The Operations Manager will set up and run this division, overseeing daily activities, building the client portfolio and ensuring smooth movement of goods between Zambia and other African markets.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and lead the new transport‑broking team from the ground up.
• Grow and manage the client book, acquiring new business and maintaining existing accounts.
• Develop the annual sales budget, recruit staff and align resources with growth targets.
• Coach, train and mentor logistics professionals to deliver high‑performance service.
• Ensure all operations comply with regulatory, safety and company policies.
• Collaborate with other departments to guarantee end‑to‑end operational flow.
• Implement logistics software and technology to improve supply‑chain visibility and efficiency.

Required profile

• Relevant bachelor’s degree (Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration) – not mandatory if extensive hands‑on experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics or supply‑chain management, preferably within the African market.
• Proven record of improving operational efficiency and managing cross‑border freight.
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
