About the role

The Operations Agent – Air Operations is responsible for the efficient clearance of inbound and outbound air shipments and the accurate handling of international documentation. You will work at the JNB Gateway hub, ensuring that cargo moves smoothly through the network while adhering to global SOPs and security protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Process and shelve inventory accurately, preparing export documentation for WPX shipments.
• Clear inbound material within 45 minutes of aircraft arrival and verify cargo against pre‑alerts.
• Label, shelve and perform daily checks on high‑ and low‑value shipments, updating SIS accordingly.
• Monitor bonded shipments, moving items older than 14 days to the state warehouse and reporting them.
• Coordinate multi‑shelf shipments, provide store‑check feedback and ensure timely dispatch with correct destination codes.
• Scan, route and lodge shipments (international, WPX, NCY, COY) with proper upliftment and CIA requirements.
• Verify piece counts, attach accurate release documents and invoices, and process RIB shipments using correct MWP codes.
• Conduct daily bond reconciliations, resolve inventory discrepancies and ensure paperwork accuracy.
• Re‑weigh oversized pieces, capture manual volumetrics and comply with Part 108 and security protocols.
• Prepare accurate AWBs, report damaged shipments and complete GSOP‑compliant departure reporting.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight time‑frames (e.g., 45‑minute inbound clearance).
• Experience handling air cargo, bonded shipments and customs documentation.
• Ability to work accurately with inventory systems and perform regular reconciliations.
• Knowledge of global SOPs, security standards and Part 108 requirements.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with airlines, road haulers and internal teams.
