Occupational Hygiene Assistant

About the role

The Occupational Hygiene Assistant will support the Occupational Hygienist in maintaining and improving occupational hygiene programmes at Valterra Platinum’s Thabazimbi operation. The role contributes to a safe and healthy work environment by assisting with monitoring, reporting and incident investigation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in conducting risk assessments, occupational hygiene and environmental measurements.
• Perform daily occupational hygiene and environmental inspections and record findings.
• Report findings and recommend interventions for hygiene and environmental incidents.
• Support sampling activities and interpretation of exposure data.
• Help prepare environmental impact assessments as required.
• Contribute to SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) objectives and targets.
• Maintain high‑quality documentation and report on at‑risk behaviour, incidents and injuries.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science, or a Technical Trade N2 certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
• Studying towards or holding an intermediate certificate, diploma or degree in Mine Environmental Control, Environmental Management, Occupational Hygiene or Public Health.
• Strong interest in occupational health, safety and environmental compliance.
