Occupational Health Physician / General Practitioner

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Physician or General Practitioner to lead primary and occupational health services for a multinational workforce in West Africa. The role combines clinical care with workplace health management, operating on a month‑on/month‑off expatriate rotation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary medical consultations, examinations and treatment for employees and patients.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions.
• Conduct occupational health assessments, including pre‑employment exams, periodic screenings, return‑to‑work and fitness‑for‑duty evaluations.
• Deliver emergency medical care and first aid as needed.
• Develop and implement workplace wellness and health‑promotion programmes.
• Monitor work‑related illnesses and injuries, recommending preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate, confidential medical records.
• Collaborate with HR, safety officers and hospital specialists on employee health matters.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, occupational health legislation and company policies.
• Support health‑education sessions, vaccination drives, chronic disease management and employee assistance programmes.
• Refer patients to specialists or external providers when necessary.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBChB, MD or equivalent).
• Valid medical registration and current practising licence with a recognised medical authority.
• Experience in primary care and occupational health is essential.
• Ability to work in a multicultural expatriate environment.
