National Technical Manager – Generators & Mobile Cranes

About the role

BA Personnel is seeking a National Technical Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, manufacturing, sales and installation of generators, earth‑moving equipment and mobile cranes across South Africa. The role combines technical leadership with commercial responsibility to drive national sales revenue and ensure high‑quality service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage annual maintenance and trade expense budgets, monitoring costs to meet or exceed targets.
• Lead the technical team of approximately 20 staff, providing training on new technologies and ensuring efficient asset maintenance.
• Coordinate with procurement and OEMs to secure quality products, manage warranty claims and register new manufactured generators.
• Drive generator and equipment sales, present new products to existing and prospective customers, and achieve agreed revenue and margin targets.
• Prepare accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for branch performance and site surveys.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent with a trade qualification in diesel/mechanical engineering; BCom Business Management is advantageous.
• 5–8 years of experience in a technical management role, preferably with mobile cranes and generator equipment.
• Strong commercial acumen, budgeting experience and ability to work under pressure.
