National Operations Manager – Road Freight

About the role

We are looking for an experienced National Operations Manager to take ownership of a national road freight and distribution operation. This senior role will oversee multiple branches, lead Branch Managers and drive service levels, operational performance, cost control and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee multiple branches across the country.
• Lead Branch Managers to achieve service‑level targets.
• Drive operational performance and cost control.
• Ensure profitability of the road‑freight network.
• Manage vehicle utilisation and linehaul efficiency.

Required profile

• Senior management experience in the South African road freight industry.
• Proven break‑bulk and express distribution background.
• Experience managing multiple branches and large operational teams.
• Strong knowledge of linehaul, warehousing, OTIF, KPIs and vehicle utilisation.
• Ability to control freight losses, damage, claims and operational costs.
• Working knowledge of NBCRFLI and road freight compliance.
• Strong commercial, reporting and client‑management capabilities.
• Valid driver’s licence with willingness to travel nationally.
