About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a National Consultant to support the Restoring Landscapes in South Africa (ReLISA) project. The consultant will coordinate implementation activities across multiple partners and landscapes, ensuring timely reporting and effective information exchange.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate and consolidate implementation information, tracking activities, milestones, partner responsibilities and progress.
- Compile inputs from consortium partners for monitoring and reporting to UNEP and the donor.
- Prepare agendas, briefing materials and documentation for consortium, landscape and stakeholder meetings.
- Maintain the project knowledge repository, organizing documents, research outputs and meeting records.
- Track UNEP‑commissioned research outputs and summarise findings for project use.
- Prepare materials for governance processes, including steering committee meetings, and record key decisions.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; a first‑level degree in a relevant field is an advantage.
- Minimum five years of experience with governments, NGOs or research institutions on environment and development.
- Experience in donor‑funded project reporting, consolidating partner inputs and preparing reports.
- Familiarity with United Nations or other international organisations is desirable.
- Background in ecosystem restoration, natural capital assessment, biodiversity, climate change or sustainable finance projects in South Africa is a plus.
