About the role

The Matjhabeng Local Municipality is seeking an innovative, self‑driven Municipal Manager on a fixed‑term basis. The successful candidate will represent the municipality at senior levels and lead the implementation of good governance, financial, and operational strategies.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure good governance and compliance with municipal legislation and policies.
  • Establish and maintain effective audit and risk‑management frameworks.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal performance of the municipality.

Required profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Social Sciences, Law or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of senior management experience with a record of institutional transformation.
  • Advanced knowledge of municipal policies, governance systems and council operations.

Required skills

  • Strategic leadership and change management.
  • Financial management, budgeting and cost control.
  • Risk management, audit and assurance.
  • Supply chain and procurement management.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication.
