About the role

The hotel and conference centre in Pretoria seeks a versatile maintenance professional to ensure safe, timely upkeep of all building systems and guest areas. You will perform a blend of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tiling and painting tasks, supporting uninterrupted hotel operations and high‑end guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out day‑to‑day general maintenance and repairs across accommodation, conference venues, spa, kitchens and public areas.
• Execute planned preventative maintenance schedules on plant, equipment and building services.
• Respond promptly to work orders, guest requests and emergency breakdowns, minimizing downtime.
• Perform basic electrical work such as checking distribution boards, installing light fittings and maintaining plug points.
• Maintain hot and cold water systems, fix leaks, replace sanitary fittings and address pressure issues.
• Undertake carpentry, tiling, painting and finishing tasks to hotel brand standards.
• Record all maintenance activities, update work orders and communicate status to the Facilities Manager.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of general maintenance or handyman experience in a hotel, lodge or resort environment.
• Driver’s licence and own transport.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship (electrical, plumbing, carpentry) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Basic electrical maintenance and safe isolation practices.
• Plumbing installation, repair and water‑system troubleshooting.
• Carpentry, tiling and painting techniques suitable for up‑market hospitality settings.
• Mechanical plant support (air‑conditioning units, pumps, water plant).
• Fault‑finding, problem‑solving and interpretation of technical drawings.
• Proficient use of power tools (drills, grinders, sanders, cutters).
