Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician

About the role

Mama Shelter Cape Town is looking for a multi-skilled maintenance technician who keeps the hotel running smoothly behind the scenes. The role covers guest rooms, restaurants and back-of-house areas, from fixing electrical issues, plumbing leaks and air conditioning problems to carpentry, painting and general repairs. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and fix electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other facility issues quickly, before guests notice
• Carpentry, painting, repairs and general maintenance to keep the property looking good
• Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment, systems and facilities
• Follow safety procedures and regulations, and support a safe environment for guests and colleagues
• Help the hotel stay sustainable by conserving water and energy

Required profile

• Experience in hotel maintenance, facilities, construction, engineering or a similar environment
• Organised, reliable and able to handle several tasks at once
• Comfortable communicating with guests, contractors and colleagues
• Flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays and emergency call-outs
• English communication and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
