Mower Operator – 2 Positions (Grade 03)

About the role

The Grounds and Gardens Department at Rhodes University is seeking two qualified Mower Operators (Grade 03) to support the maintenance of the campus landscape. The role involves operating mowing equipment to ensure the university presents a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate mowers and related equipment to carry out routine and ad‑hoc mowing tasks across campus grounds.
• Maintain equipment in good working order, performing basic checks and reporting any faults.
• Assist with other grounds‑keeping duties as directed by the department.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10 qualification.
• At least six months of relevant experience operating mowing or similar equipment.
• Certificate in mower operation and maintenance is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in operating mowing equipment.
• Basic mower maintenance skills.
