About the role
A vacancy exists at Barberton Mines for a Miner. The Barberton Mines complex, which first produced gold in 1886, now comprises three mines: Fairview, New Consort, and Sheba.
Key responsibilities
- Participating in required SHE meetings, interventions, and campaigns
- Conducting investigations into accidents and incidents, and implementing measures to avoid reoccurrence
- Ensuring compliance to mine standards and procedures
- Reporting incidents and near misses to relevant parties
- Conducting risk assessments and safe behavioral observations
- Conducting daily re-entry examinations and marking off of support
- Identifying the reef band and marking the face as per geological reports
- Changing up the face and conducting safe blasting
- Planning and coordinating mining activities in line with targets and objectives
- Communicating daily mining plans to the crew, allocating responsibilities, and coordinating the crew
- Planning for leave cycles
