Mine Planner

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Planner to join their mining team in the North West region of South Africa. The role focuses on developing medium‑ to long‑term pit designs and production schedules that align with operational goals.

Key responsibilities

• Create and optimise pit designs and production schedules using industry‑standard software.
• Collaborate with shift‑bosses and mine overseers to ensure plans are practical and achievable.
• Maintain compliance with blasting regulations and mining safety standards.
• Provide technical input for mine‑wide planning initiatives and reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science, BTech, or Advanced Diploma in Mining Engineering.
• Valid Blasting Certificate (Rock Breaker) and Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (MMCC).
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in medium‑ or long‑term pit design and production scheduling.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on underground or opencast production experience (e.g., Shift‑boss or Mine Overseer).

Required skills

• High proficiency with mine‑planning software such as Deswik, Datamine, Mine2‑4D, Surpac or MineSched.
