Migration Health Nurse Consultant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Migration Health Nurse Consultant to support the temporary reception and processing centre in Musina, South Africa. The consultant will deliver primary health‑care services, triage, first aid, emergency referrals and fit‑to‑travel assessments for vulnerable migrants and affected populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic primary health‑care, triage, first aid and emergency referral services on site.
• Conduct fit‑to‑travel medical assessments for individuals preparing to move.
• Work under the administrative supervision of the Head of Sub‑Office, Musina and technical supervision of the Sub‑Regional HAP Coordinator.
• Collaborate with IOM Musina staff, Migration Health Division, local health facilities, Emergency Medical Services and humanitarian partners.
• Ensure patient safety and infection‑prevention measures are followed within available resources.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Valid South African nursing licence.
• Minimum three years (degree) or five years (diploma) of relevant clinical nursing experience.
• Experience in primary health‑care, emergency triage, first aid, public health, humanitarian response or work with vulnerable populations is desirable.
