Microbiologist (2 positions) – Cape Town

About the role

Microchem Specialized Lab Services is looking for two qualified Microbiologists to join its Cape Town laboratory. You will work in a commercial, ISO‑17025 accredited environment, performing routine and specialised microbiological testing for food safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Directly conduct microbiological analyses using validated testing protocols.
• Maintain laboratory best practices, including QA/QC documentation and adherence to SOPs.
• Support lab management in daily operations and technical training of staff.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 17025 requirements and Good Laboratory Practices.
• Troubleshoot analytical issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in a commercial microbiology laboratory.
• Clear criminal record and ability to work rotating shifts.
• Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Food Science/Technology or a related field.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
