Meter Reader & Electrician Technician (Pipeline)

About the role

The Meter Reader and Technician supports utility revenue management projects by accurately collecting water and electricity meter readings, reporting meter issues, delivering credit control notices, and performing authorised electricity disconnections and reconnections. The role demands a strong focus on safety, quality, customer service and operational efficiency to meet daily targets and project objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Visit residential, commercial and industrial properties to capture accurate water and electricity meter readings.
• Identify, record and report faulty, damaged, tampered or inaccessible meters.
• Deliver credit control notices and other required customer communications.
• Perform authorised electricity disconnections and reconnections.
• Maintain accurate records and complete daily reporting requirements.
• Adhere to health, safety, quality and operational procedures while meeting productivity targets.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and qualified electrician with a valid Red Seal Trade Test Certificate.
• Minimum 2 years experience in meter reading or related electrical work.
• Valid driver’s licence and experience driving a manual transmission vehicle.
• Physically fit for field‑based work and able to work independently.
• Experience in revenue management projects within local government or municipal environments is advantageous.
