Member of Performance and Audit Committee (PAC)

About the role

The Municipality seeks qualified individuals to serve as members of its Performance and Audit Committee (PAC). Members will provide strategic advice on audit, risk, performance and financial governance to support effective municipal management.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Council, Political Office Bearers, Accounting Officer and Management on internal audit, risk management and performance management matters.
• Review internal financial controls, accounting policies, regulatory compliance and the reliability of financial reporting.
• Assess the adequacy of the AFMS and ensure alignment with the Municipal Finance Management Act and related legislation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management or Legal studies; post‑graduate qualification is an advantage.
• Proven experience in financial or performance management within the public or private sector.
• Thorough knowledge of legislation affecting local government and understanding of municipal service‑delivery priorities.
• Technical expertise in the Municipal Performance Management System and familiarity with MFMA Circular 65.
• Ability to serve on no more than three municipal performance and audit committees simultaneously.
