Media Officer – Communications & Advocacy

About the role

Iranti is seeking a Media Officer to join its Media and Communications Unit. The role will support the organisation’s advocacy and storytelling across digital and traditional platforms, focusing on human‑rights and LGBTI issues.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, write and produce multimedia content (text, audio, video, images) for campaigns and storytelling.
• Draft and distribute press releases, newsletters, and articles to social and mainstream media.
• Manage daily operations of social media channels (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) using scheduling tools.
• Develop and maintain media partnership frameworks.
• Monitor, analyse and report on social media performance with Google Analytics and platform insights.
• Collaborate with programme teams to create advocacy content and support annual communication plans.
• Produce digital collateral such as videos, photos, brochures, and newsletters.
• Ensure all content reflects a pan‑African feminist perspective.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience in media, journalism, or communications, preferably within LGBTI or human‑rights contexts.
• Proven ability to communicate an organisation’s mission and values to diverse audiences.
• Strong written English skills with a published track record.
• Commitment to Iranti’s goals of publicity, promotion, and advocacy.
