Mechanical Draughtsman (Electrical Equipment) – Pretoria

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Draughtsman to produce detailed drawings for electrical equipment used across various industries. The role involves turning engineering concepts into accurate 2D and 3D documentation while supporting project teams to meet deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Produce mechanical, layout, fabrication and assembly drawings from specifications.
• Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models using approved software.
• Create manufacturing, workshop, General Arrangement (GA) and installation drawings, including Bills of Materials.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to devise cost‑effective design solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, ensuring manufacturability, assembly and installation considerations are addressed.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances and specifications before final release.
• Contribute to process improvements that enhance drafting efficiency and quality.

Required profile

• Matric and a National Diploma, Certificate or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Draughting or a related field.
• Formal CAD training or certification.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Mechanical Draughtsman in engineering, manufacturing, mining, industrial or construction environments.
• Proven ability to work closely with engineers on design projects.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software, especially SolidWorks.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and relevant drafting standards.
• Familiarity with welding, machining, fabrication and assembly processes.
