Mechanic M/F – Ports & Terminals Technical Department

About the role

The Walvis Bay Multipurpose Terminal, a company of AGL, manages the Walvis Bay Multipurpose Bulk Terminal in Namibia. It is looking for a permanent, full-time Mechanic M/F within the Ports & Terminals Technical Department. The job purpose is to maintain and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems and related mechanical components so that terminal equipment performs optimally.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems and mechanical components
• Carry out fault finding and diagnostics on mobile and fixed terminal equipment
• Implement preventive maintenance programmes to reduce breakdowns and downtime
• Keep maintenance documentation and job reports accurate
• Manage the inventory of parts, tools and consumables
• Follow safety and environmental regulations during maintenance work
• Support operational teams during breakdowns or urgent repairs, and assist with vessel operations if required

Required profile

• Trade test certificate in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent
• 3 to 5 years of experience with heavy-duty equipment, cranes or port machinery
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, pumps and engines
• Ability to read technical drawings and manuals
