Manager: Projects (High Voltage Transmission & Substations)

About the role

Our client, a leading South African infrastructure contractor specializing in high‑voltage transmission and substation projects, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead end‑to‑end delivery of large, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Accountable for the full project lifecycle – time, cost, quality and SHEQ performance.
• Develop execution strategy, governance framework and baseline plans.
• Manage budgets, forecasting, cash‑flow and cost‑to‑complete reporting.
• Own contract administration, including claims, variations, extensions of time and entitlement.
• Lead integration of engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Oversee site delivery through Construction Managers and ensure supplier performance.
• Maintain senior‑level client and stakeholder relationships.
• Drive risk mitigation, recovery plans and performance optimisation.
• Ensure SHEQ compliance, commissioning and handover of assets.

Required profile

• Diploma, BTech or Degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering or related field.
• 10–15 years of infrastructure/construction project delivery experience, covering award to close‑out.
• Strong commercial, contractual and financial management background.
• Specific experience with HV transmission, substation projects, Eskom, NTCSA or IPP environments.
• Knowledge of NEC, FIDIC and JBCC contract frameworks (formal training advantageous).
