Manager – Committee Support

About the role

The Western Cape Provincial Parliament is seeking a Manager to lead its Committee Support Section. Reporting to the Director of Parliamentary Support Services, the role ensures that standing committees and members receive high‑quality, procedurally sound assistance in delivering their legislative mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of committee support services, ensuring effective delivery to committees, chairpersons and members.
• Coordinate law‑making processes, maintain procedural compliance and guarantee timely production of legislative outputs.
• Manage the implementation of oversight and accountability initiatives and support public participation responsibilities of standing committees.
• Develop and execute operational plans aligned with institutional strategic and performance plans.
• Oversee the Committee Support budget, assets and financial governance in line with procurement and financial regulations.

Required profile

• Honours degree in Law, Public Administration, Political Science, Public Management, Governance or a related field.
• Minimum five years’ experience in a managerial role within a parliamentary, legislative or public‑sector environment.
• Proven experience in committee support, legislative processes, oversight, accountability and public participation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets and mitigate operational risks.
• Valid driver’s licence (code B) and strong written and oral communication skills.
