Maître D’ – Front‑of‑House Lead

About the role

We are looking for a professional, polished and personable Maître D’ to take responsibility for the guest experience and front‑of‑house coordination within the restaurant. The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for guests, managing reservations, arrivals, seating and guest flow while ensuring a warm, efficient and consistently high standard of service.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly, manage arrivals, seating arrangements, departures and overall guest flow.
• Handle reservations, walk‑ins, waitlists and maintain accurate table‑management information.
• Coordinate closely with the Restaurant Manager, service and kitchen teams, communicating special requests and guest preferences.
• Monitor service flow, assist with table allocations during busy periods and support the host/hostess team.
• Address guest enquiries, resolve complaints professionally and manage telephone reservation enquiries.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Previous experience as a Maître D’, Host Manager, Restaurant Supervisor or similar front‑of‑house role.
• Demonstrated ability to manage reservations, seating and guest flow in a busy restaurant environment.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and excellent verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Experience with restaurant reservation or table‑management systems.
• Basic computer literacy.

What we offer

• Salary range R7 000 – R10 000 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
