Maintenance Operator – Instrumentation (Grade 2)

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Grade 2 Maintenance Operator to support the upkeep of instrumentation and control systems across its operations. The role involves operating control devices, collecting field data, and ensuring optimal productivity while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect pipelines and customer stations, perform gas testing and report deficiencies.
• Act as vehicle custodian: conduct pre‑travel inspections, maintain vehicle care, and operate 4x4s, light delivery vehicles and trucks (license required).
• Assist and accompany artisans to ensure safe execution of maintenance tasks.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and ensure tools are packed, stored safely, and used correctly.
• Prepare and arrange tools for various tasks as instructed.
• Support installation and removal of machine components.
• Identify and apply the correct oil or lubricant for services.
• Liaise with land owners and maintain good customer relations.

Required profile

• Grade 12 with Maths, English & Science or N3 with Maths & Engineering Science (NQF Level 2).
• Driver’s licence Code C1 (old Code 10).
• 1–2 years of relevant experience in instrumentation or industrial maintenance.
• Strong communication, problem‑analysis and decision‑making abilities.
