Maintenance Millwright – Food Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Millwright to join the Engineering team of a leading food manufacturing company in Killarney Gardens, Cape Town. The role focuses on ensuring plant equipment operates optimally through planned preventative maintenance and rapid response to breakdowns.

Key responsibilities

• Execute daily preventative maintenance schedules on plant equipment.
• Respond to unplanned and breakdown maintenance incidents.
• Conduct root‑cause failure analysis for recurring equipment issues.
• Provide technical support to handyman staff.
• Manage critical spares and tools, ensuring accurate maintenance administration.
• Enforce health and safety standards and maintain GMP and housekeeping compliance.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and monitor equipment performance.

Required profile

• N3 level qualification with Trade Test in Electrical or Fitter/Fitter & Turner.
• Minimum two years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and diagrams.
• Solid knowledge of preventative maintenance systems.
• Understanding of HACCP, ISO, GMP and OHS standards.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and time‑management skills.
