Maintenance Manager – Hotel

About the role

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Maintenance Manager ensures the smooth operation of the hotel’s facilities. The role oversees all maintenance activities, leads a team of technicians and upholds the highest safety and quality standards to enhance guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and complete all general maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently.
• Develop, implement and monitor a preventative maintenance plan for all building systems.
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors providing 24‑hour services.
• Manage department expenses, budgets and cost control while maximizing profitability.
• Conduct regular inspections of property, plant, equipment and fixtures.
• Maintain stock levels, order supplies and negotiate with vendors.
• Foster communication with Housekeeping, Front Office and other departments to ensure seamless service.

Required profile

• Minimum Matric (Grade 12) qualification.
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager, preferably in a hotel environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate a maintenance team.
• Excellent knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and safety systems.
• Solid understanding of health, safety and fire regulations relevant to facility management.
• Experience managing budgets, costs and third‑party contractors.
