Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will support the Maintenance Team Leader at Sedibeng Brewery, ensuring the plant and its facilities remain safe, functional and efficient. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting.
• Carry out routine inspections, report defects and assist with preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Support breakdown repairs and ensure timely resolution of equipment issues.
• Assist artisans in utilities and help with equipment installation or relocation.
• Maintain housekeeping standards, follow safety procedures and identify hazards.
• Handle tools and equipment responsibly, including proper storage of workshop machinery.
• Record work completed and provide feedback to supervisors.
• Contribute to sustainability initiatives such as water and energy saving.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 12 education.
• Reliable transport and a valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work overtime, flexible hours and at heights.
• Physical stamina to meet the demands of a maintenance role.

Required skills

• Operation of workshop tools such as drill press, drilling machine and bench grinder.
• Basic plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with safety and housekeeping standards.
• Forklift operation (advantageous).
