Maintenance Assistant (Handyman)

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant (Handyman) will support Heineken Beverages’ Engineering department at the Wadeville Production site. You will ensure that buildings, equipment and facilities are kept in good working order, meeting Heineken’s operating standards and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general repairs and maintenance (plumbing, carpentry, painting, tiling and basic welding).
• Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify issues or potential risks.
• Troubleshoot and fix faulty systems such as fixtures, doors, windows, ceilings and appliances.
• Carry out preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
• Install and assemble furniture, fixtures and small equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good condition.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and keep work areas clean.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs.
• Perform scoping activities and develop bills of materials.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar maintenance role.
• Trade certification (bricklayer, plumbing or carpentry) and experience in an industrial environment.
• Valid driver’s licence and forklift licence.
• Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labour.
• Strong problem‑solving, attention to detail and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
