Maintenance Artisan – FMCG Plant

About the role

Premier FMCG is seeking a Maintenance Artisan to ensure the reliability and efficiency of equipment across its bakery, milling, confectionery, personal care and culinary divisions. The role combines electrical and mechanical support to keep plant operations running smoothly in a fast‑paced FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Anticipate and address potential machine reliability issues to maintain continuous manufacturing.
• Lead problem‑solving sessions and provide improvement suggestions to the maintenance team leader.
• Record and analyse breakdown trends using the maintenance system to drive equipment upgrades or purchases.
• Support ad‑hoc projects such as machine renovation, refurbishment, installation and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety, Health & Safety and GMP requirements through proper documentation and SOP adherence.
• Coach Handyman staff and apprentices in line with Premier’s leadership standards.
• Supervise, train and coach Technical Operators on SOPs and best operating practices.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a relevant trade within an FMCG environment.
• Matric qualification.
• N3/N4 qualification in a relevant field.
• Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) preferred.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of engineering principles.
• Experience with PLC and SCADA systems.
• Strong food safety knowledge.
• Safe working practices and attention to detail.
