Machine Shop Supervisor

About the role

The Machine Shop Supervisor will lead a team of machinists and apprentices in a high‑mix manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient machine set‑up, production planning and on‑time delivery while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a team of up to 10 machinists and apprentices, including training and performance management.
• Plan daily production, load machines and coordinate CNC lathes, machining centres and manual equipment.
• Set up machines and create Mastercam programs for new parts.
• Conduct first‑off inspections and oversee quality control throughout the shop.
• Select appropriate tooling, monitor tool life and manage tooling inventories.
• Schedule production to meet delivery targets and monitor overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Ensure health and safety compliance and coordinate routine machine maintenance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, lean manufacturing and OEE optimisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising machinists and apprentices in a shop‑floor environment.
• Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling and on‑time delivery.
• Ability to enforce health and safety standards and manage maintenance activities.
