Machine Builder/Assembler – Manufacturing

About the role

A leading manufacturer of catering and baking equipment is seeking a skilled Machine Builder/Assembler to join its Bellville South facility. The role involves assembling complex mechanical components and ensuring high‑quality production standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble gearboxes, pulleys, sprockets, chains, conveyors, rollers and fit bearings.
• Operate electrical hand tools such as drill, grinder and tap machine, as well as standard spanners and hand tools.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in a factory environment as a machine builder.
• N4 Mechanical qualification and qualified fitter or millwright artisan.
• Own transport and availability for overtime.
• Valid forklift licence.
• Positive attitude, healthy and fit for work at heights.
• Completed safety training (advantageous).

Required skills

• Proficiency with fasteners: bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, rivnuts, tapping and die‑nut cutting.
• Use of measuring equipment: vernier calipers, angle protractor, squares, spirit levels and tape measure.
• Knowledge of sheet‑metal materials (mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium) and related fabrication.
• TIG welding of thin stainless‑steel and mild‑steel components.
• Operation of a forklift.
