Legal Professional – Labour Law (Hybrid, Cape Town)

About the role

Our client is looking for a driven Legal Professional specialising in Labour Law to join their Cape Town office. The role is based in a call‑centre style legal insurance environment, providing advice and mediation to policyholders via phone and email. After a three‑month probation, the position becomes permanent with a hybrid work arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain comprehensive instructions from policyholders through telephone, written or in‑person consultations.
• Provide immediate basic legal and product advice and draft warning letters, settlement agreements, wills and other correspondence.
• Conduct mediations and negotiate resolutions, keeping policyholders informed of progress.
• Maintain accurate case files, apply Labour Law principles, and produce written legal opinions.
• Perform ongoing legal research to stay current with legislation and case law.
• Assess case merits for advice and litigation cover, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Liaise with administrative and support staff and verify policy payment histories.

Required profile

• LLB degree with a specialisation in Labour Law; admission as an Attorney or Advocate is advantageous.
• Minimum two years post‑articles experience in Labour Law within a legal environment.
• Fluency in at least two official South African languages, one of which must be Afrikaans or Sotho.
• Strong ethical standards, honesty, integrity and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, drafting and legal research skills.
