Legal Manager – Commercial & Regulatory Law

About the role

JTI is seeking an experienced Legal Manager to act as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the Cluster leadership team. This role sits at the heart of the business, providing practical legal guidance that supports growth, drives innovation and protects the company’s interests in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to deliver commercially focused legal advice while managing legal and regulatory risks.
• Draft, review, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, supporting Marketing and Sales on competition, consumer protection and data privacy matters.
• Drive corporate governance, compliance and regulatory initiatives, ensuring adherence to laws, internal policies and standards.
• Manage complex legal matters, disputes, litigation and sensitive employment issues, safeguarding the company’s interests.
• Provide legal support for strategic and operational projects, identifying risks and ensuring successful delivery.
• Build strong relationships across the organisation, manage external counsel and enhance legal awareness through training.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience in a law firm and/or in‑house legal environment.
• LLB or equivalent law degree with completed articles and admission as an Attorney or Advocate.
• Proven experience in commercial contracts, regulatory matters and employment law.
• Strong expertise supporting Marketing and Sales functions with commercial contracting and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Company Secretarial qualifications, FMCG experience and exposure to disputes and litigation are advantageous.
