Legal Advisor – Litigation & Commercial Contracts

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Advisor to lead and manage a portfolio of litigation matters and commercial agreements for Telkom Group. The role provides expert legal counsel to senior management and internal clients, ensuring robust governance and risk mitigation across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters for and against Telkom Group in various courts and tribunals.
• Oversee external attorneys, advocates and other stakeholders involved in disputes.
• Negotiate and draft commercial contracts, service level agreements and other legal documents for the Group and its subsidiaries.
• Review, analyse and advise on settlement proposals with suppliers and customers.
• Identify, monitor and report legal risks within the assigned portfolio.
• Provide legal advice and guidance on compliance with applicable legislation.
• Research legal developments, especially in ICT and emerging technologies, and deliver training to internal stakeholders.
• Prepare opinions, memoranda, reports and other submissions for senior management.

Required profile

• Admission as a practising attorney or advocate.
• LLB degree (NQF Level 8) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in litigation, contract drafting and negotiation.
• Demonstrated experience in the ICT or telecom sector is preferred.
