Legal Advisor – Commercial & Corporate Law (12‑Month FTC)

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term contract provides legal support to a South African subsidiary of a global manufacturing group. The Legal Advisor will deliver commercially‑focused advice on corporate, contractual and dispute matters while ensuring compliance with South African legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research, statutory interpretation and analysis.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
• Manage and support litigation, mediation and arbitration processes.
• Liaise with external legal service providers and corporate advisors.
• Advise management on regulatory compliance, corporate governance and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• LLB degree or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Completed Articles of Clerkship and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Strong experience in commercial law, contract drafting and negotiation.
• Proven track record in litigation, dispute resolution, mediation and arbitration.
• Working knowledge of South African legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
• Experience in a manufacturing or corporate environment is advantageous.
